Mainly a making day, finishing all the components of the piece. Making decisions about the set up, what to keep and what to discard.
I realise that the score must first be for myself. I need to explore it and the space with my own body before I can transmit anything to others. Any score would be a guide to presence and responding with ‘immediacy’ as Moe Yamamoto described Hijikata’s intentions with the Butoh-Fu. Except in this case, it’s not about ‘one master voice’s’* choreography.
*(Now I remember that in Barairo Dansu / Rose-Coloured Dance, Hijikata had the HMV dog scultpure – HMV standing for ‘his master’s voice’…bowwow haha…what would the AI neural model respond to that?)
