Scores for Unknowing is an artistic exploration by Dominique Savitri Bonarjee and Mika Satomi. The two artists spent 3 weeks at Backsteinboot Art Space in Berlin as artists in residency. The project explores a neural audio synthesis to create feedback loops from chance noise, chatter, song, and instruments.
How can we imagine rituals of endings?
Could the sound output become a disembodied choreographic voice?
The project incorporates AI (neural audio synthesis called RAVE), post-Butoh choreographic explorations and the fermentation indigo dye technique called ai-zome. AI/human/ai : three complex systems of unknowing are juxtaposed to feedback one another.
The process of fermentation involved in making indigo dye, provides an analogue sounding board, training us in being more open to unpredictable outcomes.
The project is funded by Hibou stiftung
