Life();
Mika Satomi

The world can be seen as a kind of vast complex system. Then, each of us humans would be just an element of this system. Though we believe to act with our own intelligence and free will, we might behave just by a groupt of simple rules, when seen from such a point of view.
The artwork "Life();" is based on this view. It illustrates our life as a world of Cellular Automata. Life may be deterministic in a way beyond our knowledge. We may that we are able to decide and act with our own thinking and will, all we do might be restricted within the range of a higher level of determination. The work "Life();" proposes one possible perspective of life by using Cellular Automata as a metaphor.
"Life();" was exhibited at IAMAS exhibition 2006at Ogaki, Japan.
